FAQs

What is IV nutrition?

IV supplement therapy (IVST) is an intravenous treatment to replenish or boost hydration, essential minerals, vitamins, amino acids, and certain micronutrients via direct injection into the bloodstream. Sometimes it is referred to as intravenous (IV) nutrient therapy. A healthcare professional typically administers IVST in a clinical setting. The specific nutrients and dosage depend on the patient's unique needs and clinical evaluation.

Why choose IVST?

The current American diet of an average person has a significant imbalance leading to gradual deficiency of essential minerals and some vitamins and nutrients. Even in the best-balanced setting, many factors lead to suboptimal gut absorption, altered gut bacterial environment, and inflammatory damage, leading to a nutrient deficiency state. Symptoms usually range from fatigue, fogginess, generalized weakness, bloating, memory, and sleep disturbance. Sometimes people with high performance, such as bodybuilders or highly active athletes, would benefit from extra supplementation for more enhancement as the usual dietary consumption and body stores would not suffice. Unlike oral supplements, IVST is the most potent replenishing method through direct injection of the supplement in the bloodstream, allowing the medicine to reach the highest level instantly.
Taking supplements by mouth risks partial absorption and passing the pill through liver metabolism, leading in most cases to lower efficacy and effectiveness, besides taking prolonged time to reach the desirable serum level. Further, the oral treatment carries a considerably higher potential for gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, and vomiting.
IVST can be customized to meet the person's specific needs using different nutrient combinations and dosage adjustments. IVST is effectively used to treat particular deficiencies, adjuvant therapies for specific medical conditions, boost the immune system, advance cellular recovery, vitalize skin, charge muscles and skeletal systems, alleviate joint pain, and enhance memory. Some people may experience significantly increased energy and improved symptoms after the first IV nutritional therapy. Repeated therapy or a course of treatment may be advised depending on the goal of the therapy.
IVST provides a great deal of convenience with no restrictive preparation or dietary restrictions and is administered in the customer's own environment, avoiding the hassle of trips and wasted hours to the clinic, besides lowering the risk of social contamination in the era of pandemic without compromising the quality and clinical evaluation.
It's essential to remember that IV nutritional therapy is not a one-size-fits-all treatment and may not be appropriate for everyone. Discussing treatment options with a healthcare provider before starting any new therapy is always a good idea.

What are the advantages of IVST over oral supplements or clinic visits?

  • Rapid delivery of nutrients in the bloodstream, especially for people with high performance and to people with suboptimal absorbing nutrients due to digestive or medical conditions.

  • Customized treatment to meet the specific needs of the customer. Different combinations and dosages of nutrients can be used to address specific deficiencies or medical conditions.

  • Augmented energy, skin, memory, and memory as experienced by most people who tried it as soon as following the first infusion dose.

  • Convenience without compromising quality and safety

What should I do before getting IV therapy?

Fill out the questionnaire and forms accurately to determine your eligibility, and add any medications you are taking, as some medicines may interact with the nutrients.
Before your session:

  1. Drink water – if there is no medical contraindication – and limit dehydration beverages. This treatment is not a replacement for the regular hydration that your body needs.

  2. There is no need to take vitamins or mineral supplements if your IV nutrition has them.

  3. Treat the IV session as a mindfulness one; avoid exercising for up to 2 hours before or after.

Discuss the treatment with a healthcare provider if you have concerns or questions. You may be recommended to undergo specific tests or assessments or maybe advised to follow specific instructions.

Why should I drink water before IV nutrition?

Drinking plenty of water before IVST usually improves the effectiveness of the treatment and prevents nutrient and fluid imbalances. On the other hand, dehydration can impair nutrient absorption and cause side effects such as dizziness or fatigue.
Where can I have my IV therapy session?Your place of choice! Home, hotel, or office. The area should be clean and ventilated at a comfortable temperature. Relaxing in a reclining chair or lying in a bed allows the body to relax and have a better nutrition distribution.

What are the 'ingredients' of my IV nutrition?

Infusion bags may contain various nutrients, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc., mixed in an isotonic solution – similar solute to water concentration of the body fluids –.
For example, the infusion would contain high doses of vitamin C if the IVST is used to boost or treat a vitamin C deficiency. IV infusions may also be formulated to support the immune system or to alleviate fogginess, weakness, or irritability. In these cases, the infusion bag may contain a combination of various nutrients that will be elaborated in the selected formula.

Are there any side effects for IV infusion?

Like any component, IVST may contain what can cause some side effects in some people; however, it is uncommon since the ingredients provided are naturally consumed minerals and vitamins. The most common side effects are typically mild and manageable by your healthcare provider. They may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness or lightheadedness, headache, rash or local skin irritation at the IV site, or mild fever.
More rare side effects may include – but are not limited to – allergic reactions, blood clots, air embolism (a blockage of an artery caused by a bubble of air), or infection at the IV site.
If you experience any side effects during the IVST, inform your healthcare team immediately so they can address and manage them accordingly.
